Haku's Chronicles: Meet Baz
Hey everyone, Haku here, the resident cat in charge of all things comfort and company at the office. Today, I want to introduce you to my new roommate, Baz. His story isn’t a happy one, but he’s showing us every day that he’s got a brave little heart beneath his cautious steps.
Baz was left at the office after being separated from his bonded mate, and let me tell you, he was one sad kitty when he arrived. He hid so well I wasn’t even sure he was around, except for one clue: his little paw prints on the toilet seat. He’s got a thing for water, and yes, he’s chosen the toilet as his “special” bowl. (Don’t judge—sometimes you just gotta be unique!)
For days, Baz wasn’t eating much, if anything. He barely came out of his hiding spots, and it seemed like he was just waiting for everything to go away. But slowly, he started to notice me—and maybe saw I wasn’t such a bad roommate after all. After a few more days, I’d catch glimpses of him poking around, checking things out, and eventually, he even started to play with me!
We’re lucky, you see, because the Marysville Cat Resource Center has this way of helping cats like Baz feel safe. There’s something special in the air here—a sense of calm that helps our paws relax and our fears ease up just a little. The center is a sanctuary, and Baz seems to be feeling the healing energy. It’s like he knows this is a place where he can learn to trust again, surrounded by people who care.
He’s still a little jumpy, and loud noises send him right back to his hiding spots, but each day he’s out for a bit longer. And the best part? He’s got a really funny side. Sometimes he’ll tap me on the shoulder and dart away like, “Tag! You’re it!” It’s good to see him coming out of his shell.
Baz may be cautious, but he’s also curious—and there’s no greater combination. Stick around for updates; I’m pretty sure this guy has some big adventures ahead.
Here’s to you, Baz, my cautious, water-loving, tag-playing friend! Thanks to Marysville Cat Resource Center, we’re both in good paws here.
